Our Top Three Self-Care Recommendations

Self-care has numerous benefits for both physical and mental health. It can reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, increase productivity, and boost self-esteem. Taking time to prioritize self-care activities such as exercise, healthy eating, relaxation, and socializing can lead to an overall improved sense of well-being and better quality of life. It is essential to prioritize self-care as a way to maintain a healthy balance in our lives.

Here are the top three things we recommend to our clients to reach their goals.

Tip #1 - Create the Environment

Pick a corner of your house where you can find some quiet time to yourself. This could be your bedroom, study, porch, bathtub, etc. Clear away any clutter and make it sparkle. Then add any decorations, candles, pillows, or blankets that give you a safe and cozy vibe. Let your family or roommates know that this is your self-care space and when you are there, you need some quiet time to yourself.

Make a playlist of music that inspires you and helps you relax. There are plenty of playlists on www.Youtube.com and www.spotify.com to get you started if you need help.

Not everyone has a safe space in their home like this. If that's the case, think about a self-care spot out in public where you feel like you can relax. This could be a park, library, yoga studio, or massage studio (like ours:)). Make a plan to visit these places regularly.

Tip #2 - Gentle Movement

If you are dealing with an injury or pain, the last thing you need is to push yourself to the limit. Take time off from any exercise that could aggravate or inflame your issue. Instead, use a slow mindful range of motion and listen to your body. This goes for stretching as well, you don't need to push yourself into a stretch that is causing discomfort. Instead, extend the body and go into the stretch just until you begin to feel your muscle resist and hang out there until it loosens, for about 60 seconds. This way your body can begin to heal without added stress.

Tip #3 - Change Your Perspective

Change is possible, but only if you think it is. One of the best medicines is a positive mindset. A positive mindset fosters resilience, improves relationships, and promotes overall well-being. By focusing on the good in situations and practicing gratitude, individuals can cultivate a positive mindset and lead happier, more fulfilling lives.
