Sacrology

The purpose of this class is to offer guidelines for our common sense understanding of the theory of the sacrum – the 'keystone' of our anatomy and our anatomical center of gravity. We will also discuss the complexity of the muscles and nerves surrounding the sacrum. By utilizing the Sacro Wedgy combined with a variety of gentle, non-invasive releases and strengthening isometrics, we offer the therapists a tool to help create muscle balance and support themselves and their clients. The simplicity of the Sacro Wedgy addresses the complexity of the pelvic girdle or the 'core' of our anatomy. As one therapist states, the Sacro Wedgy is 'profoundly simple.' The more we achieve balance in the center, the better the entire posture will be, resulting in fewer symptoms and faster recovery.

There are many self-help routines that we recommend for sufferers to use for long-term care to help keep muscles in balance. As we all know, being a therapist can be very physical. It is common after years of being in the business that many therapists neglect their own well-being. So, first and foremost, is healing the therapist.

Several institutes emphasize the importance of addressing the sacrum by manually isolating and elevating it, allowing gravity to assist in releasing surrounding muscles. This is often referred to as a gravity-based modality. The Sacro Wedgy was created to simplify this process. The inventor, feeling the strain of using his hands, saw the need for a tool that could assist individuals and help professionals incorporate the technique more easily.
